What plans were made to change things? What were some of the successes? What were the failures? Why did Reconstruction fail? Why did it take another 100 years almost for Blacks to be able to vote?

Deal with it they just did it. Wrecked the economy because the owners were not compensated.

A better question would be how did they do it in dozens of other countries without resorting to killing off 25% of the male population between 18 and 40. Or a war that lasted 4 years. Why did it take a war here and almost nowhere else. I think Bolivia may have been the other exception.

America didn't deal with the problems of freeing the millions of slaves. So the slaves ended up share cropping and were worse off than before. It took another 100 years to allow Blacks the vote because the whites were angry at the Blacks and took it out on them.

Just you saying that it took another 100 years for blacks to have voting rights highlights the fact that the U.S. government really didn't deal with the social problems inherent in freeing millions of enslaved people. So, the answer is that they didn't really deal with it. And, I could easily argue that many of the social inequalities that we have today that fall along racial lines are a direct result of these historical inequalities.
