It means that you have earn all the rights and freedoms expressed in the Constitution and with that all the responsibilities inhered with it.

It also means that if your name is Jose and you speak two languages people will think you are an immigrant or Illegal and for that reason base judgment according to their stupidity. Not taking in consideration your longer blood line in the country and your condecorated military history or that of your family. Oh and if by chance your skin color is other than white I can't even start telling you what it means because i won't finish.

It means tolerating the stupidity and arrogance of the Bush regime from very up-close. It means being ashamed of torture, exploitation of people and natural resources, election fraud, brutal foreign policies, greed and lies. It also means knowing that most Americans do not support this government. It means being willing to do whatever is possible to bring our nation back in touch with human values.

You have to pay taxes even if you are not a citizen...wait, that was a joke, right?
Anyway, if you become a citizen you don`t have to deal with the INS ever again which is a big PLUS. You can work certain government jobs, be on jury duty and vote.
