I have put it in water mixed with some "miracle grpw"

It depends on the succulent. But to produce a faster root system, first dip in a root stimulator.

You may have no problem rooting this cutting, but I would not put a succulent in water and no fertilizer. I usually have light potting mix that is moist, not soaked for rooting succulents. Ideally you let the cutting dry out for a day or so and then put it in the mix. Water it lightly, then I do not water again for a couple of weeks, or until I see the cutting "plump" or put out new growth. If you lay a leaf of a jade plant or other succulent on the soil many times it will put sown roots and a plant will come from the leaf (leaf cutting) works with stems, too. Too much moisture will cause the cutting to rot before it roots. Try it and see. I don't usually use rooting hormones either, but they can help, just not too much.

Some plants root quicky (in 2-3 weeks) and others take months. Be sure and keep the soil damp and do not pull the cutting up to check on it.

You could also plant it and wait approx 4 weeks.
