I am looking for a dressform that has at least a 45" waist. I am trying to stay under $100 (could be impossible though!). Any ideas??? HELP!

Don't spend your money on buying one -- make one yourself. A few years ago in "Threads" magazine, they demonstrated 3 varieties of "body doubles" to make with a friend at home. One method involved wearing a T-shirt you wouldn't mind ruining, having your friend wrap you in duct tape, carefully cutting through the layers of duct tape and the t-shirt, re-seaming it with more duct tape and then stuffing it with poly-fil and mounting it on a stand. It's more true to your shape and you can easily make another one should your size change. Also, because it is soft, you can pin your pattern or fabric pieces directly onto it. There were a few other methods of making your own, too, but this seemed the easiest. Remember, too, that a store-bought dress form will never exactly match your contours, even with all of the dials on it. Go to the link below and good luck!

Try Davids Bridal. They could custom fit her one. Maybe Layne (Lane?) & Bryant (Bryan?). They only have clothes for larger people and might have formal wear. Or ask her where she buys her clothes. They should have nice dresses there. Also, try to find out about what size she wears. Then figure out what stores you all want to go to and call ahead and see if they have dresses in that size. Explain the situation and ask if they can set some of the bigger dresses aside for your friend so she won't be embarrassed that they don't have her size in something she likes. If things around her size are set aside in the same place she can just choose something she likes from there! Have fun and I hope this helps!

Garage sales, bridal shops, tailors, seamstresses. Maybe one of these places can direct you or might have an old one for you to have!
