On the coordinate plain, the y-axis has negative numbers. The point would be (0,-1) a horizontal line.

To graph y=-1, go down 1 line from the x-axis, and draw a line. The coordinate is (0,-1)
Hope this helps,

This graph will be a straight line parallel to x axis and intersecting y axis at -1

Draw a straight line like this:

----------------------

on the graph where y=-1. The line should go from left to right on the graph. Simple as that.

Draw one tick mark down on the Y axis. That is -1.

Then draw a straight line from one of the left to right that runs right through that tick mark.

Keep in mind that it is completly parallel to the Y=0 so it will NEVER go through Y= anthing else.

Simple.

Y=1 is graphed like this: /

So y=-1 is graphed like this: \

There should be a y axis and an x-axis. In your case do we need to assume that your x axis is zero? then on your graph just mark your point along the y axis going down one point.

You can not graph y by it's self. First you have to figure out what x is, then graph the the coordinates (x,y).

Hope this helps!

its a straight line, that runs through the y axis at -1. The line is parallel with the x axis.

Y = -1

=> X varies from -ve infinity to +ve infinity (all values of X) ...(1)
=> Y has a constant value of -ve 1 throughout .....................(2)

From equation 1:
The line is a straight line for all slopes except at 90 degrees (i.e. X axis)

From equation 2:
The line has to be parallel to X axis, cuz only then the value of Y will remain constant. ........................(3)

From equations 1,2,3
we get a straight line, parallel to X axis at a distance of unit 1 on -ve Y (i.e. below the origin)

(refer the figure)
