An increase in sunlight will increase the pond's water temperature, thereby creating an inhospitable environment for some organisms. Increased temperature means DEcreased oxygen content, so organisms which require a higher o2 content (like trout and other salminoids) won't thrive.

This is partly the reason that forest companies will always (or should always) leave a respectable buffer between a body of water and their cutblock.

Reverse the question - imagine what would happen if there was no sun. No energy so no photosynthesis so no food at the bottom of the food chain, so the ecosystem would collapse.
