Can't leave him there because it will freeze.

I would just remove him from the pool. Frogs will usually bury themselves in mud for the winter or burrow under a rock or a log, and they can actually withstand being frozen in the mud. As long as he can get under a rock or into some mud, he should be fine on his own.

I wouldn't worry about it, if he got in, he can get out and go south for the winter. : )

put him in the oven, if thats too hot you could always eat him. quite tasty im told!
