First of all I take offense to both of the terms. Second, it depends on the treatment you want. Do you want to correct the problem, go to a chiropractor. If you want to just cover up the pain and leave the problem to flare up later, go to the MD. The MD is trained to perscribed medicine and treat symptoms, or even recommend surgery. The DC (doctor of chiropractic) is trained to find the root of the problem, whether it's a muscle, nerve, and structural problem, and fix that.

MedQuack, more versatile background.

To trump her you could go to a medical doctor who is a DO instead of MD. A DO has all the same training as a chiropracter as part of their medical schooling.

Depends entirely what is causing the pain. If it is broken, you would go the med route.. if it is due to a neurological reason it is best treated by a back specialist. (chiropractic)

Medics treat acute problems.. chiropractors treat acute and chronic conditions. Totally depending on what the condition is.

An osteopath....a real doctor that also practices chiropractic techniques and won't hurt you in the process because of their limited view point
