how can i use my tivo without subscribing to tivo?

i have a tivo box .please help on how i can use it without paying for the service as a recorder.

Aside from a couple of DVD/TiVo combination boxes that were sold, you must pay a monthly fee to use the TiVo functionality of the unit. Sorry - no one has 'broken' this and found a work-around.
