HATE is a nasty word. Football chick is right
First of all, the first answer posted was very rude/ignorant.
Secondly, JEALOUSY is rampant here. I get a kick out of all those losers who say they hate 20, 24, and 48. etc.
I'm actually a SADLER 19 fan.......he SUCKS this year but i still cheer him on !
Tony Stewart won the CHAMPIONSHIP last year
Jimmie Johnson is gonna win it this year
Jeff Gordon won it how many times.?????

The writer of the first comment is an example of what gives NASCAR a bad reputation by some. To wish someone-anyone- in NASCAR would die is not the spirit that a true fan would display. I never cared much for Dale Sr. but I would never wish him or any driver to die. That's sick.
If you have been to a race, you would know that although there are some "poor sports" who repeatedly boo drivers at the races, Gordon, JJ, and nearly every other driver has a fan base. The top three drivers represented in wearing apparel at the races are Dale, Jr., Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart.
As far as the question: Why do we have to say "hated"? Why can't they just be less popular or most disliked? A true NASCAR fan should have respect for any driver out there.

Everyone dislikes someone in this sport. That's just how it goes. Everyone can run around saying "I hate him, and him, and him..." And someone else will run around saying they love the same guys the other dude hates. That's how it works. With that being said, I don't "hate" any driver. I do dislike a few, namely Tony Stewart, the Busch Brothers, Kevin Harvick...but I don't want to see them get hurt, ever! Let me make it clear, that even though Tony Stewart is my number one least favorite driver, I would still never want anything to happen to him. I am all for friendly rivalry! All of my friends have a different favorite driver, and we all still get along! There is no reason for topics like this to turn into arguments. You can like #20 and she can like #24 and they can both still get along, remember that!
And as for all of you anti-J. Gordon people, think about all this:
He has won HOW many championships?
He has HOW many top five and top ten finishes?
He owns WHAT other car? Oh yea, 48! Lotsa $$$
Jeff Gordon must be doing something right. You can't say that he's the only whiner, because I've caught other drivers doing it as well. You only pick on Jeff because he's an easy target. I personally don't care. He is my favorite driver, and I am not afraid to admit it. Go ahead, make fun of me :P Jeff will still go on to kick some butt!

Kurt and Kyle Busch the rat brothers are the most hated but Jeff Gordon is high on the list to the only diffrence is people still respect Gordon they never had any respect for the rats because they dont respect the fans.

That's a tough one since Fans are so 'fickle'. I think every driver has been hated at one time or another, just ask Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace. Currently, I'd have to say that Robby Gordon has been VERY successful at making more enemies than friends.
