I've lived in New York for 3 years, here are some attractions you have to see:
Statue of Liberty
Times Square
Macy's
Metropolitan Museum of Art
FAO Swartz
Trump Building
Central Park
Ferry Ride from Manhattan to Staten Island and back to Manhattan (it's FREE)
Brooklyn Bridge
Ground Zero
Brooklyn Promenade
Radio City Music Hall

If I was going to New York the first place I would like to visit would be Ground Zero. I have always wanted to go and pay my respects to all of those who died on September 11th. I think it is something all Americans need to do. We need to be reminded that life is short and can be taken away at a moments notice.

Just walking in New York is the best thing to do.
Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park are all good starts and they'll keep you plenty busy.

You've got to take a ride on the subway. can't go all the way to New york and not ride the subway!
