I think it is free speech, but I dare any one to burn it in front of me, so that I can express my freedom of speech and expression by stopping it. I am a Liberal Democrat, and do not like it when these nimrods burn my flag, that I have served under in three wars. This is the greatest country in the world. Why don't these hypocrites that burn the flag burn the confederate flag, or better yet, wipe their butt with it? Why not the flag of the Peoples Republic of China? Why not burn the Cuban flag? Because most people that burn the flag of this great country are a bunch of ignoramus dunder heads that have no clue what they are doing or why they have the right to do it.

You are right. Liberal judges have made a mockery of our Amendments, spinning them to suit whatever they need to. I think flag burning (or flying them upside down) should be considered treason and punishment to the fullest extent of the law.
There is a beautiful patriotic burning ceremony for flags that have become torn and tattered. That, of course, is acceptable.

Well 5 liberal supreme court justices do....they shouldn't count...
They also stood up for Eminent Domain...allowing the wealthy
business man to take your house and build a strip mall.
I think they thought clinton was still in office.
There are 5 judges who do not protect the Constitution of the U.S.
None of our founding fathers would ever agree that the govt should take our land for the sake of some land developer.
Why doesn't the ACLU or libs complain about this...its happening to their fellow constituents.
Because they are gutless, spineless.

I think that it should be protected as free speech, however I think burning the flag is a very poor method of exercising free speech.
It seems to me that burning the flag (if done to disgrace the US) is equivalent to declaring your intent to revoke your citizenship.

If someone is burning a flag that they bought, then it's their property. They have the right to do what they want with it. If they try burning a flag that belongs to you, then yes they commited a crime because that's vandalism.

If you want to live somewhere where it is illegal to burn a flag move to North Korea, Iran, or Cuba.
Can't burn flags there.
But to me flag burning is kind of like abortion, while I do not support either, its none of my business to tell you how to live your life.

You will defend a piece of cloth? What for?
People burn flags to show utter disgust. Or are we not allowed to show disgust?
