I won't be rude, I promise. First, though, an abomination to God is a "bad thing" and unless you do not believe in God then you should change that part of your answer. I believe that marriage is something that is sacred and is meant to be between a man and a woman. Not a man and a man, a man and a woman, a man and a sheep, a woman and a dog, or any other possible combination. I also believe that when I say a man and a woman I do not mean what the person claims to be because of a sex orientation operation either. I mean a natural woman and a natural man. It is how it has been for how many centuries? I do not even have a clue, as far as I know all of recorded history it has been only between a man and a woman. If you believe in God then please read the Bible and learn, it is not an evil book with evil intentions as some would have others believe. Man and Woman was created different but for each other, to help each other, provide for each other, to love each other, to create. A union between a man and a man, a woman and a woman, or any of the other perverse ideas that some people have with animals, will not allow natural and normal creation as set forth from the beginning. Without going into it any further I will leave it at that. There should not be any civil unions, marriages, or any other legal form of such allowed other than between a natural man and a natural woman of appropriate age and willingness. See, no rudeness!

This world is so far away from God that is a shame. Gay marriage is an abomination before a holy God. But then so is lying, steeling, murder and all else that God said not to do. All I can do is repent and ask God for his help in a dying world. I did that over and 7 years ago and found out that it works! Won't you do the same if you have not already. God loves the sinner but he hates the sin. So I don't hate gays because that's not the way of God. He would rather that all would repent because its his will that all would come to him and live.

Gay marriage definitely should not be legal. Like you said, it is an abomination to God. But also, legal marriage of gays simply dilutes the quality of marriage that has existed between men and women for all eternity! Do we really want that? No, it is in society's (read government's) best interest to propegate the species, which can only be done between a man and a woman. Thus, gay marriage should not be tolerated or legalized because it may signify the beginning of the end to our species' domination on this Earth.

You say you think it SHOULD because it's an abomination to God...... that doesn't make sense. You mean you think it SHOULDN'T because it's an abomination? was that a typo?

I think gays have just as much right to be in committed long term relationships with all legal benefits the same as marriage, but I do oppose calling it "marriage". I personally prefer the term 'civil union' or 'life partnership' or something else, to distinguish it from traditional marriage between man and woman. That's just my opinion.

I definitely believe it should be legal. I think gay couples love each other just as much as I love my wife, so to tell them they can't marry is cruel. I would feel terrible if some law prevented me and my wife from being married.

If you think gay people don't really love each other, that's just your bigotry showing. If you believe someone is incapable of feeling human emotions, it's like saying they're not fully human. Are you comfortable saying that someone is not truly a human being just because he's gay? To me, that is an abomination.

If you think homosexuality is an offense against God, that's called a religious belief. You have a right to believe it, but you have no right to persecute other people because of it.

My own marriage is not valid according to the Catholic church because I've been divorced. Fortunately, however, the Catholic church has no right to tell people who don't belong to their church whether or not they can legally marry. I think that should apply to gay couples as well. The US is not a theocracy. Whether or not people can legally marry should not be a matter of what any particular religion says on the subject.

To those of you who believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, I have to ask what your reasoning is. Personally, I think marriage should be about what is in our hearts, not what is in our pants.

I don't see how gay marriage dilutes marriage between a man and a woman.

I think a gay couple should have equal rights under the law as a married couple. I believe that medical decisions and property rights equal to a married couple should be granted to a gay couple through some instrument, some contract.

And no, I am not gay nor have I ever had a "gay" experience. I was born in the 50's, I am a conservative politically, but I also believe in individual rights and choices.

I feel the government has meddled to deeply in our personal lives the way it is.

As a citizen of the United States I think all people should be afforded the same rights. I do not personally agree with homosexuality but, unless they get the same rights as Americans then I think we as a country is falling short on the "all men are created equal" part of our constitution. Remember only 40 yrs ago blacks were not considered equal.

Yes. In America today the home of all these freedoms. It seems rediculous that it is even an issue. Nobody can tell you who to love. And the choosing a life long partner like anything else in this country should be up to just the 2 involved. Whats next....ban interracial marriage? How bout this when any 2 people get married all the people in the immediate area get to vote on whether its a good idea....

Marriage is a Biblical concept. Therefore I say no. But I am not against the contractual union. In fact, in some cases, it may even be better in many ways. You could put what ever caveats you wanted in it. But a marriage is a contract with God himself. You can not possibly win that one in a court of law. God is the supreme judge.
