I'm not complaining, hope they keep the downward fall.
I have heard all sorts of things that are causing the lower gas prices,

Oil stockpile, very quiet hurricane season, and a older fellow told me that the upcoming elections have a lot to do with it, he also told me look out after the elections that they will probably rise a bit higher but only time will tell according to this fellow.

Thoughts or additional comments...

November elections, plain and simple. They'll go back up afterwards.

Its just Supply and nothing else. Demand does not materially change (so its definitely not a luxury good as a previous commenter stated), and obviously it is not politics. Do you think our politicians could have any effect on gas? They can't handle simple finance issues such as balancing their budgets or keeping money in an offshore account (versus your freezer, you stupid f'in politician) - how could they possibly figure out how to control the price of oil. They go and pick fights with the countries that sell us oil for pete's sake.

elections mostly. Gas prices normally start rising in winter though, this hasn't happened yet. Depending on who gins office they might stay low. In other words the guy in there want's to make it look like they are lower cause of him. If he's reelected then they will rise if a new guy gets in he'll want to keep them low so everybody isn't like ya see how great it was.

just an opinion.

Equivalence, for every 1000 iraquies we've killed gas has gone down 1 cent, you do the math.

I AGREE WITH THE POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS B UT IM ADAMANT THAT WE WERE GOUGED. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IT IS SUPPLY AND DEMAND. THE PRICES WERE SO HIGH THAT PEOPLE COULD NOT AFFORD THE LUXURY ANY LONGER. SEEMS TO BE CHANGING. HOPE THEY DROP EVEN FURTHER.
GOD BLESS
