Sorry..it sounds like your guitar is fretted high..which means the string raise off the fret board high..
In some cases it can be adjusted at a music store...
What kind of guitar is it?......some brands like washburn...and some so called beginner guitars are just hard to play..fretted high with wide necks..
I always recommend a epiphone for new players..they have narrow sweet necks..and are fretted low...
But until you develope calises on your fingers..it will hurt..you have to play through the pain..
But I would go 30 min for several weeks..then move up to 45 min...play that a few weeks then move up to an hour...
Give yourself time to develope players fingers..
band aids wont help :( sorry you must make those fingers tough..
Good luck.........play on....:)~

It does get better with time...honest...

Are you saying that the tips of your fingers hurt? If so, then that happens to all novice guitar players. Eventually, the tips of your fingers will toughen up. In the meantime, make sure you have new strings, as old strings are gonna rip your fingers up! (Have you not changed the strings in 4 years? That is most likely the problem) Also, if you don't know how to change them properly they can be set too high, making it extra hard to press on the frets. So take it to your local music shop & they can put them on correctly.

someone told me that if i want to practice daily at playing... then 15 minutes is pretty good... cuz then you won't get sick of the guitar or anything.... i mean you can go for longer but... you know what i mean
also that is one thing guitar players have to go thru is fingers hurting... but once you get more experienced it should get better good luck!!!

Wow dude.I had the same problem. If it helps, trynot to strum the guitar to hard and don't try to push to hard on the strings on the top the neck. Good luck!!!

Well. I don't know, maybe you shouldn't play too long so that it hurts.

Just keep playing for a while, you'll get used to it. Band-Aids won't help at all.
