The lyrics must be meaningful. The singer must have some depth and intensity. And the music is vital. It must be melodic. Most of these newer bands don't even have one of the three. Pretty sad, huh?

A good song must start dep within you. It can be best triggered by these things>
Something that happened to you, or close relative.friend such a sdivorce, nmarriage, death.
But a really good song will come from your heart and soul and is an expression of you and how you feel.
Times you are alone are a good time to think about songs, it mab be whioe reading a good book or watching a sad picture, seeing some mom with a car load of kids at a soccer field, whom you know are alone., and sad inside.
You have to feel a song for it to be good. You have ot live it to some extent or wish you could live it.

in my opinion it takes as much as you're willing to give... what i mean is....
if you have a strong passion for music and you are in or tryign to get into the music biz for the right reasons then you should be able to make a good song.... unless your in it for alll the wrong reasons...
if you have talent
if the vocals are good
if the music is kinda catchy and just awesome
if the lyrics are meaningful...and sometimes catchy...
and the song has a point....
good luck!!!♥

Good lyrics and music.

Well for me, I don't mind if the singer is too bad. Unless it's something completely horrible and whiny.

So anyways, I think that's what it takes to make a good song.

for me, it's mostly the music, although amazing lyrics never hurt...i think it really has to be catchy to have mass appeal, but, honestly, melody is extremely important, to be taken seriously as a true musician, not a rapper or other such numbskull who has a recording contract...
