When i first started teaching my biggest fear was the Discipline, my effectiveness and the most important one is Would i be able to teach all my grade 1 pupils to read both in Filipino and in English because here in the Philippines all grade 1 pupils should be a reader at the end of the school year.
How i overcame the fear i don't exactly know every year is a different situation its a matter finding the right strategies and technique to use and every year is a learning experience for me.
Just don't forget to pray and do your best like it was your last.
Trust your self and your students then harmony will set in.

Classroom Management. I was afraid of what would happen when I asked a student to do something and they said no. Kind of like Dark Phoenix, I had problems the first day. You learn from your mistakes. Sadly, you don't learn over night. You try things and if doesn't work you try something else. You talk to other teachers.
2 good books that helped me were 1st Days of School by Harry Wong and Tools for Teaching by Fred Jones.
About the teaching German/French, it would be a good idea to join the FL teach listserve. I am Spanish Teacher and this has helped me many times. Also, have you heard of TPRS? That is a great way to teach a FL.

My biggest fear was not being able to control the class. When I was a substitute, one time there was one kid who was totally defiant to me. A fourth grader. He wouldn't do a thing I told him; he just wandered around the room and did whatever he felt like.
When I started teaching full time, I was terrified that I would have that kid. People kept telling me that it wouldn't happen, that kids act like that for subs but it would be different when I was their real teacher. But I was still scared. I wondered what I would do if that situation arose. What do you do if you say to a kid, "Sit down," and he says, "No?"
Lo and behold, ten minutes into my first day, I had a defiant kid who wouldn't do a thing I told him. It sucked. But I learned from it. Now at least I know how to handle the worst kids of the worst. I can control any class. But I had to learn the hard way.

An interest that I did some cases on the 1st day of senior English grew to become into as follows. Have each individual interior the lecture room, which contains your self, write down 3 issues approximately themselves. 2 of the products ought to be actual and one fake. As each individual's turn comes up, he reads his little checklist and something of the class tries to wager which isn't actual. via fact the instructor, I in lots of cases began. An occasion of what i could write is: a million) I placed on touch lenses 2) I honestly have been to Hawaii two times 3) I honestly have been to Alaska two times. In that occasion, the 2nd merchandise grew to become into fake. of course, there's a splash greater to it than merely writing down random suggestions. the suggestions all might desire to be the two possible, yet additionally the two astounding. If a individual throws in something like "i'm chinese language by way of delivery (whilst he's a blue-eyed blonde, there is no longer something to wager. It does take a splash skill.
