what is a good service to hook them up to?

what phone company is the gsm or cdma phone from ? you may have to unlock the phone to use on another network but for example your gsm phone is cingular -call them and see if you can get a prepaid smartchip it may be cheaper than getting a prepaid phone combo

you cant do nothing with the cdma, but if the gsm in unlocked, yes...get a pre-paid sims card!
