Lets lay all the cards on the table.
#1 There has been plenty of talk about placing Barak Obama up as a presidential candidate - probably the first serious choice since Colon Powell and Jesse Jackson.
I for one think this is ridiculous because though he doesn't have the dark histories alot of other candidates have, his name sounds so unamerican and I don't like his ears.
I perfer Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee and I feel that she could win it in 2008.
#2 Barak Obama can't win because there is a SECRET WHITE VOTE AGAINST HIM. Though most of you are probably too sheltered, ignorant or simply "unaware" to know it; there is still plenty of racist Whites in America who will vote for the "other guy" so long as the "other guy" is White - even if the "other guy" is HANNIBAL LECHTER.
#3 I believe that if Condoleeza Rice ran against Hillary Clinton it would be a landmark competition.
A Black, Republican woman vs a White Liberal woman.

The only thing that could stop Condi from winning that one would be anti Black racism.
If Condi couldn't grab the anti-Hillary NEOCON/ conservative/ republican
(and other assorted rednecks) vote, it would be sheerly due to discrimination.
I personally believe America won't have a Black president for the next 25 - 50 years so Barak Obama might as well just sit down. He doesn't seem right for the position though he is a male as suppossed to Hillary.
Unfortunately, Bush has degraded the American presidency so much, we might as well have a hamster wear a suit and sit in the oval office.

Most republicans are bigots.
The conservatives would likely make up a few good lies about him, and they would put another idiot into office.
Sigh.

Okay first off, just because you don't like the guys ears, doesn't mean he doesn't have a chance to win if he runs. Although that would be pretty funny if we could vote on body features instead of political view. blah blah blah .....
I don't know honestly, I think that we are going to be knocked for a real loop with this up coming election year. I think we are going to see female candidates and black candidates, something that was thought to never happen. I think that 2008 could be the year to have both if Condoleeza steps up and makes a go at it. I don't think Hilliary will win it, and yes I am aware that prejudice still exists, and it is a damn shame. Barak probably wont go too far, in an interview that I was watching with him recently he seemed very reluctant to answer just basic questions, if and when he gets to the point of running for president, he is not going to be able to skate around the questions like that or they will tear him up.

First off racism is prevelent in this country on both sides, there are probably just as many racist blacks as there are whites in this country. Many whites may vote for the other candidate to protect the black candidate. It's sad to say but I do not think the world is ready for a black president. If a black candidate won the presidency then his life might be at risk from some brain washed racist, and how would that benefit the country? There would be race wars everywhere.

i think of u . s . of america is waiting for a black President - yet no longer for Obama to be that guy. Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Walter Williams, or perhaps invoice Cosby could have been a greater suitable decision. regrettably there are some nut jobs who might shoot a black President basically for being black; it sucks, yet it quite is why we've the secret provider.

I think it will never happen any time soon.
I think it would always be only WHITE MALE president.
It is too bad since there is lots of bright people of other races.
But If it would ever happen in the near future- the story of JFK would repeat itself, I think.
Some states in the USA are not as open minded as others as well.

Why does the race of the president matter? Isn't the best person for the job getting elected more important than what the color of their skin happens to be?
Incidentally, you're making some pretty big statements there. Do you have anything to prove this stuff being true.

It don´t matther if is black or white.
Matter who´s the one can run this country in order and common sence but common sence is less common that should be.
What Amerrica needs is peace and progress not war and racism, and of course, hate between national population.
PEACE AND WORK THATS WHAT AMERICAN NEEDS

I dont really care,
I can see him getting shot dead before he gets anywhere to serious for white leadership to handle.
but its great he at least stand up for it,
it shows some level or progress, I guess.
Now when are we gonna get to the point where we have a black candidate who actually looks black. That, my friend, will be some kind of progress!!
I thought he was hispanic....

It will be a long time before America has a black president. It took America almost 200 years to have a Catholic one, so it's going to take a while for a black one.

He hasn't said what he really stands for, He runs around the issues. I could see myself voting for him, it is just a matter of who would run against him.
