My Computer:- HP Pavilion Intel Pentium 4 3.40Ghz 1Gig DDR Memory, 250 Gig HD +150 Gig Ext HD, DVD Rom & DVD/CD Writer, NVIDIA Geforce FX6200 with 256Mb Memory, Windows XP Home Edition (OEM) with SP2 installed. The Mother Board is a ASUS P4SDLA.

It will depend on the Motherboard & the systems ability to accept that much RAM , not all motherboards will allow unlimited RAM upgrades, as previously mentioned you need to consult with the manufactuer . good luck.

I would doubt it myself as the board wasn't around for it, if you have a spare slot, I suggest you add a 1GB PC3200 in your third slot. I am guessing you don't though. Failing that sacrifice a 512MB stick for a 1GB one.

I have 1.5GB in my PC 2 and 1GB in my main PC 1. You won't need that much more unless doing rendering or photo editing etc.
My main pc seems to work very fast on 1GB. Though I may make it 2GB when can be bothered - that was the original plan, just not got round to it.

No. If you do it you may destroy both the RAM and your motherboard. DDR and DDR2 memory are no compatible. Always stick with exactly the type of RAM your system was designed for.

No, that board takes DDR memory, and DDR2 and DDR are not compatible with each other.

to be sure, you need your pavilion model number, then log on to www.crucial.com and enter the make (HP) model (Pavilion) and model number and it will tell you exactly what your systems can take - all your options.
