I believe you will be at an advantage if you start in engineering. You could start preparing for the MBA by using some of your elective courses to study economics and accounting principles. There is plenty you can do to prepare yourself in advance. You might also spend some time preparing for the GRE. It should point you in some directions for study.

When you get out, you will be more valuable than if you got your undergrad in business or finance.

I've actually done what you want to do. There are a lot of engineers who go get their MBA.

It depends on what you ultimate goal is. If you really want to be an investment banker or a asset manager, then it is best to get a finance underdegree and get experience in finance.

If you would like to perhaps head a foriegn office for an oil company, then having that undergraduate in engineering is very valuable.

It still is possible to go for work an investment bank if you have an engineering undergraduate, but you need some in-between steps. After finishing the MBA, you might go work in the corporate finance department of an oil company for a few years, then you can get a job at an investment bank.

I'm not sure that I'm getting what you're asking, but I'll take a shot.
You want to get your Bachelor's in Engineering, then get your MBA in Corporate Finance... That would be really good if you want to be a manager of an engineering dept in a corporation, or if you want to run your own business that is engineering intensive.
I dont think that you would need to study prior to the MBA -- take some business courses at the undergrad level as part of your Enginneering degree so that the concepts aren't completely new or foreign when you get to MBA school.

You better stop in your tracks and decide what you want. These two careers require course material which are like night and day.
