I would think that the amount of change you should bring depends on the day of the week you are working and the section you are in. If its a Monday afternoon and you are in a relatively slow section, then I would say $50. If its a Friday night and you are in a busy section, then $100-150. Keep in mind that you will be getting more change as you go through your shift.

To the first person that answered, there is nothing worse when waiting tables and there is that one person who forgets to bring his/her own change. Restaurants are generally not responsible for making change for the waitstaff.

You should change out your dollars for change out of the Cash Register (or ask the Cashier to Cash over).

Or the oposite may be the problem,.. some places don't start off with coins change or run out of it alot, so you might need to get alot of change and trade some for some normal dollars from the cash register to have a mix of coins and dollars. Or whatever your countries curency might be.

No, the place that you work will make the change.

Your restaurant is supposed to make change for customers, not you.
