None of these guys are great singers, yet they're all superstars- why?

They all belong to great bands with great talent. A raw voice can work very well for rock songs. Rush and NY have great lyrics to work with....and all 3 have great instrumentation.

Because there's more to (good) music than just the singing. Neil Young, Geddy Lee and Brian Johnson all sing great songs

Geddy Lee is an exceptional singer! Brian Johnson has a great bluesy voice. I agree with Neil Young....You forgot the two biggest superstars there are......Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson.....neither can sing a lick but they can write the hell out of a song!

I disagree that none of those are great singers, Neil and Lee both are talented singers, their voices are just a bit annoying attimes. And AC/DC relies on their guitar and song writing talent.
Bob Dylan can't sing for sh!t either, but he is so damned talented musically, noone cares or notices.

Pfft, what the hell are you talking about, they all kick ***. Geddy is soo awesome, and hes amazing Live. Neil Young is so cool, very good lyricsist and for Brian Johnson hes pretty damn good, but Bon Scott was better.

Geddy and Neil write great lyrics and Brian has that great scream/sing that has made ac/dc who they are. You left Tom Petty and Bob Dylan off your list though. lol

neil young is a great song writer, geddy lee is a great bass player, a brian johnson has a teriffic raspy blues voice

Neil Young's got soul out the ying-yang. I'm not saying I like all of his songs, but his voice is real all them. Yes, it may not be the most asthetic voice in the world, but it is one of the truest. Bob Dylan is another great example of the same thing.
True is more important than beauty.

What are you talking about? They are great singers, they have their own unique sound! I love that rough quality to a singer's voice.

Same reason Hendrix was a superstar...it has more to do with overall talent than just one part of it.
