The other huge story coming out of this week’s SmackDown was the brutal beating and defeat of Rey Mysterio in an “I Quit Match” by Chavo Guerrero. The lengthy, personal and bitter rivalry was taken to extremes on Friday when Chavo Guerrero won the match, and may have ended Rey Mysterio’s career in the process.
Chavo hung Rey by his feet from the steel that supports the SmackDown set, and repeatedly battered Mysterio’s exposed knee until he could take no more and was forced to utter the words, “I quit.” An injured and demoralized Mysterio was unable to walk after the match and had to be rushed from the scene on a stretcher.

After a grueling and emotional I Quit match with rival Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio was rushed out of the STAPLES Center on a stretcher. With no rules or disqualifications in an I Quit match, Chavo trapped the former World Champion upside-down on a steel lighting structure and used a chair to decimate Rey’s left knee. After enduring an almost superhuman amount of punishment, Mysterio was finally forced to utter the humiliating words, “I quit.”
Dr. Ferdinand Rios of the WWE medical staff has confirmed that Rey originally hyper extended his knee when Chavo locked his legs in the lighting structure. The subsequent six powerful blows that Chavo dealt to Rey’s already injured knee ruptured Mysterio’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and tore his patella tendon. The damage to the knee is so extensive that it cannot bear weight, and the normally agile Mysterio will need crutches to get around and extensive surgery to repair the shattered knee. Dr. Rios added that the invasive surgery on Rey’s knee is very serious and will require a large amount of physical therapy.
After going through emotional hell for better part of the last year, what does this new complication mean for fan favorite Mysterio? Will he ever be able to return to his high-flying ways?

The I quit match was jus a way to bring viewers in and an excuse to give Rey Rey a half year off to get surgery he already needed. otherwise rey wouldve totally kicked his ***. Look for Rey Rey in RAW after wrestle mania unless somehow he stays in smackdown which he pry wont then the i quit match had no significence what so ever and it wont draw fans next time so if smackdown was smart theyd let him go to raw for a lil while then bring him back when chavo finally retires (again)

Well, in real life Rey Mysterio needed to have surgery on his knee that he blew out months ago and storyline wise to explain Rey's absence they had Chavo lose the match the "I Quit Match" so that he can have his surgery.

Because it was planned. Rey desperately needed knee surgery since about 2 months after Wrestlemania and they thought this would be the right time to take him out of action. Plus alot of people didn't like the storyline between the two because it was disrespectful to Eddie's name (although I don't really know if that anything to do with WWE's decision or not).

Rey has been needing knee surgey since he won the world heavyweight title so they thought this would be the perfect oppurtunity to let Rey take his time off. So Chavo "Broke his leg" in the match.

Rey got Himself tangled up in a steel up right post near the back, and Chavo kept smashing Him in the knee with a steel chair.
Now the WWE says Rey needs Knee surgery.

Sorry but i have to say that Rey lost to Chavo and Rey quit. And he broke Rey's leg!!

he started climbing the stage thing and chavo hit him down and rey was hanging off it by his injured leg then chavo kept hitting him with chair shots till he said i quit
