My dear, dont be so pessimistic about our country's future. After all, we have been a democracy only for 59 years! Let us give our country some more years before it actually reapes its actual potential.
My gut-feel says that our India is onto something really really big and this is only a temporary phase which shall eventually pass-over.
I hope we all Indians unite and become mature in real sense of the word.
Amen......!!!!

Caste is an extension of family. It shows the existence of different social groups who have sought to retain their separate identity for thousands of years. These social groups because of their exclusiveness acquired a common affinity and identity. The fact that these caste identity does not die down, despite several movements would show that this system continues to serve an important function in the society. No system will wither away, as long as it is a functional necessity. In India, where the arranged marriage is common, it is the caste system that serves as a reference point for arranging the marriage partners. Caste marriages are found to be convenient in that it serves as an index for commonality of interests, culture and social practises. As long as this system prevails, caste cannot be wished away, in Indian society.

Yes I feel caste system will surely remain untill the end of the world. As every human is soft at his own birth and every one wants his race to be at the top.And as the time passes on we try to adopt to different kinds of life styles depending only on the caste systems which we choose. So, surely as long as humans remain in comminities there will be these caste systems.
