Your question needs to first consider some vital points. Why are we here on earth? Where did we come from? Where are we going? What is meant by the English word Hell? The bible was not written originally in English. What is Hell? Once you have the answers to these questions, then you can understand why a belief in Jesus Christ and His atonement is so vital to every person that will live on this planet. Remember also that belief is a choice you get to make. We are free to make our choices but no one is free to escape the consequences of those choices. It is not God's intention for us to go to hell. He continually works to help us avoid that consequence because He loves us. We are all His children. A Christian should stand ready to provide the means by which a person can learn enough about Jesus Christ in the first place, by way of invitation to do so, that a decision based upon knowledge and application of that knowledge results. The answers reside in the scriptures and in applying them in our lives. It is by this means that we come to understand who Jesus Christ is and what our relationship is with Him.

A simplist or superficial interpretation of the New Testament seems to say that if you don't believe in Jesus you will indeed go to hell.

Of course, the idea that people go to hell may also be a superficial interpretation of the NT.

Sadly, way too many churches only teach a rather simplified version of the gospel- sort of a 'lower common denominator' version, and most church goers tend to accept these teachings with only minimal critical thinking.

This feeds right into our human way of 'binary' thinking- yes or no, hot or cold, left or right, and black or white. Heaven or hell falls very neatly in this.

I know a lot of dedicated and well-meaning Christians who will strongly disagree with this- but there are suggestions all over the Gospels and NT that there are ways for other people to attain heaven by following the laws on their heart, and an unbiased reading strongly suggests that many other common teachings are... not quite the way we are taught.

I read all your comments, and it shows a big lack of information. No one goes to heaven because they believe in Jesus or not. It is much more complicated than that. We would not know anything of the divine, and the after life if it were not revealed. We must have a revelation from God, and he did. Now it is up to each of you to read, study it, and decide what you want to do with it.
No doubt there is a hell and a heaven, because God revealed it, whether you like it or not. And a lot of people are going there, if you read about revealed visions. So if you do not care, act blind, and deaf; if you do, read, and seek. God will teach you, he promised to : "Seek and you will find, ask and you will be given, knock and it will be opened to you" Therefore there is no excuse; whoever does not make heaven, he will be responsible for it.
It is useless to fight, and argue with limited or no knowledge. Believing and saying things you think are right is useless; you can never guess it right, you must learn it. It is a REVELATION from above.
You are responsible for your own soul, and God bless you.

If you want to hear how easy it is to go to hell, read an article from "St Leonard of Port Maurice", that you can get on the net for free( see the address below). He will prove to you beyond doubt that most Christians literally go to hell. He is not talking about non Christians.
This easy article may save your life for eternity. When proclaimed, it did save around 20000 people, in the 17th century.

I don't believe it's our place as Christians to tell you "You're going to hell". Whether you end up there or not is between you and God.

What I do believe is what's written in the bible, and that the road to heaven is narrow and you only get there through acceptance of The Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. You need to accept him into your heart and live your life for him to not end up in hell.

So seeing that Christians are taught that, doesn't it make sense that we would believe if someone doesn't believe in Jesus, that they'll end up in hell? But I wouldn't call it "assuming" seeing that our bibles teach us that information.

I don't think that Christians (or any other religion) should force feed their beliefs on anyone else. Mostly because it causes people to feel the way that you do, and we should just live our lives as examples and be open to answer questions and share our faith when someone wants to know about it.

Firstly most Christians don't believe this, only weird fundamentalist types.

They believe that everyone who hasn't been saved will end up in hell because it says so in the Bible. Unfortunately their position is untenable because the Bible is a deeply flawed book full of inaccuracies and contradictions.

Some Christians, like the Jehovah's Witnesses, believe that there are only 144,000 places in heaven and only the very best Christians will get into heaven and everyone else will go to hell. The joke is on them really as there is no such place as heaven or hell. It's all nonsense.

The Bible became written for sinners, to warn us far flung from sin. - a million Corinthians 6:9-11 particular, the VERY WORST of sinners, even Christians, whose bodies are contributors of Christ, who fornicated, that's the only sin it quite is against their very own bodies; evaluate against whose physique they sinned! became Jesus a prepared participant? - a million Corinthians 6:15-20 The salary that sin will pay is dying, no longer torment; meanwhile there's a reward for repentance. - Romans 6:23 Hell became the be conscious for "hollow" while the King James and Douay Bibles have been translated, and spoke of the hollow referred to as a grave. It took centuries of propaganda to alter the meaning of the be conscious, and hellfire would not make any experience in languages wherein that propaganda did no longer ensue. The devil is the god of this international, no longer of hell. - 2 Corinthians 4:4 Is it any ask your self that individuals get caught right into an entire life of sin? the closest devil ever gets to hell isn't till long after Armageddon, or perhaps then, he would be solid into the Lake of fire formerly hell is, and hell would be empty - no person in it - while it is solid there. - Revelation 20:10-14

Im sorry if anyone told you you were going to hell, but i believe you are mistaken in your beliefs that all Christians believe that if you dont believe in Jesus you go to hell.

I am a Christian and i dont believe that, not at all. There are so many good people who do not believe in Jesus, i dont think that the will be denied access to heaven because of that.

I can almost understand why someone whould say that to you, because as a child i went to a catholic school and thats what we were taught to basically scare us into being good and believing in Jesus untill we could decide for ourselves, but what ive realized is thats not true. Whoever said that to you probably learned that it was true, but did not care to actually read between the lines.

What the bible says is that if you dont believe in Jesus, everything will be harder for you. Life will be harder and it will be harder to get into heaven, nowhere does it say it is impossible. The bible states clearly that Jesus accepts EVERYONE. of all religions, races, genders... everyone.

im sorry someone told you you were going to hell, and im also sorry you believe all Christians think that way.

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is there Savior and there ticket into heaven. I am not saying that there wrong or right though. Jesus Christ is labeled as Gods son for most.
But remember he was a Prophet, just like Mohamed ?sp in the Muslim faith.
I was raised in Catholic faith and even question that, it states clearly not to pray to others of which they do to the Saints.
Though it is nice to think that if we do this or that it will get us to heaven, there is no answer as of how to.
As of right now, I believe in God, (not the big bang theory) but I also believe that your physical life is heaven or hell. And there is no right or wrong religion, so there should be no judgment to another. Even if you are atheist (don't believe in God) you should not be judged. How can one revolve there life around a story and be lead like a flock of sheep, look around, it's very hard for some to believe in anything anymore. Ignore the ignorance.

Not all Christians believe that ... but do very much believe in the teachings of Jesus. Just like many other religions, sometimes it's best not to "lump" them all in together. There are various different sects within each religious group. Some are more liberal than others, some more fundamentalist ... and some are more interested in seeking Truth.

I'm not gonna give you this big long thing, i'm just gonna give you the simple truth! The bible says repeatedly the only way to get into heaven is to accept Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal savior! After that, it is our job, as Christians to help raise people up and help them and win lives for God...I think it is terrible that someone who considers themselves a Christian actually told you you were goin to Hell! One day you will feel the conviction of the holy spirit and accept Jesus Christ too! Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for, you are in my prayers! :]]
