Well, unless you have a backup, you cannot.
Assuming you have been using WinXp for past 3 months and have System Restore ON, then you can only switch back to "Last good know settings" and this is what you get in F8
System Restore: Each time you install a software, windows xp is monitoring it. Once windows finds that the system is running stable even after installing the software(s), it will create a checkpoint i.e. a place where you can go back to if the system gets unstable in future.
Now, some people prefer to install a fresh copy of Windows, load all the drivers and make a full backup of it. So if they want to reinstall the windows, they just need to restore that backup. Hence saving the time and the trouble of reinstalling everything.
This is the only known way to get the XP that was on the 1st day.
Norton Ghost is one such software which creates a complete backup (mirror image). It takes space on your hard drive or removable media, but then it saves one from all the troubles.
PS: System Restore won't do that for you since System Restore will get you back on the day when your system was running good and not on the 1st day.

That's a little complicated. If you really want that, you should have to re-install windows. Get the windows CD, put it in the disc drive, restart the computer, wait for the auto-loader, follow the install steps. You will have to reinstall ALL your software back again. Maybe that's not the best option. You should be more specific on your next question, so we can give you a more adequate answer.
Hope I could help.

i have me, not xp but i had to totally write to zero on mine. if you have the disks that came with the computer, you can do it yourself. if you don't feel comfortable doing it and the comp is still under warranty, the techinal (?) support people from the comp manufacturer will talk you thru it. good luck. (writing to zero takes to the comp back to day 1 basically)

Go to "start", to "All Programs", Then go to "Accessories", to "System Tools" folder and System Restore. I had to use this once before and it worked great! But back up your files first, because it will erase all saved programs and personal files.
