There are many ways to alleviate a headache. But, it depends upon the type. If it is the 'worst headache of your life' or associated with a rigid neck and fever, or blurry vision, you should go to the Emergency Room and see a doctor!!!
If it is due to stress, then you can do many of what has already been mentioned (ie. massage, ice, breathing etc).
If it is at the base of the neck, try taking two tennis balls and place them in a tube sock, with a knot tied to keep them in tight. Then place them under the base of your neck as you lie down on them. Take deep breaths. Also, try drinking more water, as dehydration can aggravate a headache, as can constipation.
Additionally, there is an acupressure point on the hand between the thumb and index finger (in the web of the hand) that when squeezed with either your other hand or by someone else, will hurt like the Dickens, but seems to relieve headaches as well.
Sometimes the neck is out of alignment and either a chiropractor or an Osteopathic physician can fix it by manual adjustments.
Again, there are so many types of headaches, that it would be good to know more about them. For example, what is done for a migraine is different, as is for sinus headaches.
Good luck, and remember to see a doctor

Well first off, I would start with a large glass of water.. Most of the time it seems when someone gets a headache, it's caused by dehydration. Not getting enough in you during the day.. So drink up!
Also, you can try the cold at the back of the neck and hot water foot bath.. Draw the blood down, and away from the head. No more throbbing!
Also, I swear by lavender essential oil.. Diffuse it thruout the room, or put on a cottonball or hanky and deep breathe thru the nose.. Or you can also massage into your temples.. Good stuff! It also helps with insomnia, so you go night-night-jammies!

Depends on the cause. You could need sleep. It could be a blood sugar issue and you might need to eat. Also, ice on your head and heat on your feet will draw the blood from your head and the pain will go away. Also try stretching the muscles in your neck slowly and for at least 30 seconds in all directions because the muscles in your neck also attach to the back and bottom of your head. I've also heard the smell of peppermint helps. And dont forget to drink water--some people think its the medicine they take that helps, but a lot of times it's the water they drank with the medicine because they are dehydrated. Water helps with tight muscles too.

I have heard that massaging the pressure point between your thumb and forefinger can help. Also, massaging temples. Or, if your rub a small amount of bengay on your forehead, temples and the back of your neck it is supposed to get rid of it. Oh, a strong cup of hot tea will get rid of migraines, too - but it has to be made STRONG, which usually also makes it taste pretty yucky, so add a slice of lemon if you need to. Good luck and God bless.

Depends on the type of headache, if its at the front of your head and your eyes hurt then get your eyes checked. some times just closing your eyes (if u can) for a few Min's and saying in your head Ive not got a headache over and over can help ease it. also a few deep breathing exercises can help

I know how you feel...I've had headaches for over 10 years. I've tried medicine, ice packs, heat packs, drinking tons of water, lying down, chiropractors, massages, anything! It never helped. I've recently started going to physical therapy and it really seems to work. Maybe you should try going to your doctor and have him/her recommend you to a physical therapist. Good luck!

Go to your natural food store and get some aromatherapy oils. (Don't buy the cheap ones from the grocery store.)
Drop one to two drops on *peppermint* and one drop of *eucalyptus * on a tissue. Inhale. I do this for everyone who has a headache. Works 99.99999% of the time. : )
