Actually, it's deosil and widdershins. Many people think that these correspond with clockwise and counterclockwise, but it depends on what hemisphere you're in. Deosil is used to open a circle (forming/creating), and widdershins is used to close (dispelling/destruction).
Deosil is the direction the sun moves in the sky, and widdershins is the opposite. In the Northern Hemisphere, deosil is clockwise, and widdershins counterclockwise. In the Southern Hemisphere, it deosil is counterclockwise and widdershins is clockwise.
It is disputed, however, as near everything is among modern Witches. I imagine you'll get many different answers.

Actually in the tradition I follow you walk deosil (clockwise) when casting circle as that is the direction that the sun follows and tuathal (counterclockwise) when opening or releasing the circle. This stems from the belief that deosil is spiraling up to the spirit realm and tuathal is spiraling down back to the physical.
It is actually a very old tradition to walk clockwise around a sacred place or before some sort of journey.

Actually, you generally move clockwise to form, or "open" your circle, and counterclockwise to "close", or end the circle. Clockwise is considered the direction for forming/creating, and counterclockwise the direction for dispelling. Some people consider counterclockwise as actually being negative, so do not use it at all in circle.
In the end, casting a circle is highly individual. You do what feels right to you.

I see you have many answers to choose from.
you walk from the north to the place where you are going to hold your ritual and start forming your circle from the East and go clock wise around the space you need to fit everybody in.and continue around back to the east to close the circle to outside forces.
When done you start in the East and walk counter clock wise to open the circle and dispel it.

Okay, for one thing you walk Clockwise (Deosil) to Open a circle and you walk Anti-Clockwise (Widdershins) to close a circle. The reason for walking Deosil is to bring in love and protection to the circle and your walk Widdershins to release the energies.
