This is a difficult problem even for the Yahoo people. So let's go over this slowly.

- Are you using a wireless router, and you are wireless? (That's a whole different set of problems). In this case, MOVE any your wireless telephone away from your router. This often causes the signal to go UP and DOWN like a yoyo. If one of the phones is near your computer, that will cause problems.

- Look at your DSL modem thing... Is the Internet light on steady? Open up the COMMAND PROMT (for Windows) and type
ping google.com
if that does not time out, then try this:
ping google.com /n 1000

Does it run error free? Or do you get sporadic timeout errors?

If you have more Phone line filters, then replace the ones that you are currently using. After making this adjustment, try that PING command again, to see if it improves.

- You might have Spyware, that steals your internet connection. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

Good luck

Ah, you too? BT Yahoo keep emailing / writing to me to get me to sign up to new, improved, faster download speed service, for no extra cost. Just have to commit to a contract for a further 18 months. Haven't signed up and have noticed that my broadband connection keeps getting slower and slower. Have run checks on laptop, no bugs slowing things up, so the conspiracy theorist in me wonders if this could be a purposeful tactic to get me to sign up to the new service. Apparently there are sites where you can check your broadband speed.

I've been using BT broadband for around 4 years now and I've never had a single problem, but then again I don't use any crappy BT software and don't use the crappy BTHomeHub......I've tried it all and it sucks more than a huge sucky thing.

BT went down the pan when they took on yahoo. If you are using I.E. then dump that and download Mozilla Firefox thats what we use.

NTL has lousy customer service IF you bother to watch bbc's watchdog. They are next in line to talk talk.
