Will it be harmful since it is not OEM?

i'd say it would be ok, but scout around on line first, if it goes side ways you might fry the PSU or worse in your laptop

I would recommend purchasing the OEM model, but if you cannot find one then:

First make sure that the output VOLTAGE is the same as what is needed. You can catch your laptop on fire if not.
Second it would need to have the right adaper to fit into the plug on the laptop.

As long as the voltage is the same and the location of the positive and negative contacts are the same it should be OK.
I have bought several replacement adapters for different devices and the sales rep at Radio Shack explained all this to me.
