alright. another question about the mercedes. I have a 1977 mercedes benz 300d. the driver side window needs to be replaced and i was curious as to whether there is a company/website that can possibly still manufacture these or if my only hope is to find a junked car of the same make/model and take that window. Any input or recommendations are welcome. thanks.

Daimler Chrysler makes a point of keeping parts for ALL models sold under the Mercedes brand.

This even includes some parts for pre-war cars. A '77 model should not be too hard for them. When asking include the body number. It will start with W. Mine for instance is a W126.

Contact your local dealer and if they are no help use the net to contact DC itself. If the dealer is reluctant to assist you might convey that fact to DC.

Other options - eBay

BuyMBparts - they have a website, and are located in Georgia I believe. They are on the list of parts suppliers for the main North American Mercedes-Benz clubs. Talk to Rusty or his business partner.

In Australia try MB Spares & Service who are located in Canberra, Australia. They have been on the net ten years and ship internationally. John, Murray or Chris will probably help.

With a '77 model it might be a good idea to join an M-B club. There is a lot of expertise among long-term M-B owners.

Yahoo accused me of spam/advertising a few days ago and I don't include URLs anymore.

You are going to have to find a Mercedes Benz wrecking yard that will sell you a complete door. Most the time that's how it is done. You might luck out at car swap meets and some yards will wrap cardboard around a tempered glass window and hope for the best during shipping. Besides vacuum door lock diaphragms electric window motor and window regulator outside handle and latch all parts that might come in handy.
