Start a garden with him. Find activities you can do together like hiking or going to the beach and going to romantic restaurants together. Plan trips every once in a while. Put on sexy (not slutty) clothes. Get him some puzzles or model cars to build. Get him interested in woodscraft by getting him some power tools. There's much you can do. Get a pet and take long walks all together. I really hope this helps. And don't forget to surprise him every once in a while with a romantic dinner you make. (Add some wine to spice things up.) Good Luck!

"He is home all the time syndrome" and that drives me crazy is a normal transition for couples. For some its TV, for others its the PC but very few will chase you around the house all day (and you know why). It's a big change and you both have some adjusting to do. Let's face it its probably just as hard for him to be home and nothing but watch TV. You won't have the problem for a long time if he continues that behavior cause he ain't going to last much. Inactivity and lack of mental and social stimuli is is the shortest route to the grave. You won't find the answer here amiga but there are some self-help books you can find for coping with retirement. You can do a Yahoo search or the some other major book web site on the topic for a comprehensive treatment of the problem. If that doesn't work try your neighborhood therapist. Good luck. You've taken the first step towards solving the problem---facing it.

If he is hooked on some tv shows, it'll be hard to get him to do activities with you, or by himself outside the house. So consider getting a DVR (TIVO.) If you have cable tv, you can add it to your subscription for about 10.00/month. Once your husband sees that he can record series, and not miss anything, AND that he can watch an hour-long program in about 40 minutes, he will hopefully be willing to do more things outside of the house.

If your husband is watching tv because he's depressed, one thing that will help is getting more exercise. Going outside for a nice walk together every morning will help. If he wants to exercise indoors, you can get a treadmill or an elliptical trainer, or he can do exercise with one of the programs on tv! (My personal favorite is "Inhale" on the Oxygen channel, but the yoga on this show is pretty difficult for people who haven't done yoga before.)

If his sleep and appetite patterns are disturbed, those are signs of more serious depression and he should probably see a doctor.

All right dear heart. There are many suggestions I could pass on to you. The first is do an activity out of the house with him, if it does not work, find him something to keep is mind busy, if it doesn't work, try doing a strip tease and lap dance for him in front of the tv., And if all of those suggestions do not work, throw the television in the garbage or give it away to the Salvation Army which is better, so a poor person can use it for entertainment. ( smile ).
Good luck.

Get your chore list out -- all the things in the house that need to be renovated, fixed, taken care of, and take him and you to the little seminars at the local hardware stores -- show him you will do it if he does not -- pick out a joint set of tools, tell him you want to go on long walks together -- anything and everything to keep him moving ....

Well, I don't see what's the problem with watching TV that long. Me and my boyfriend do that every day and we've not lost interest in each other. We both go out of our way to do things for each other to please each other to make us happy. Even some little thing that you do will make a difference to him. Just do things for him that you know he likes. Even if he says nothing he WILL notice everything you do for him or TO him.
