He was the sidekick of Davy Crockett (Fess Parker) on the old Walt Disney Presents series.His character's name was Georgie Russell.

Well the other obvious show starring Buddy Ebsen is Barneby Jones but he was hardly the side-kick on that.

A quick look through the IMDb shows a short-lived series from the late 50's called Northwest Passage, where he played the very side-kick-sounding Sergeant Hunk Marriner -- Could that be it?
