its on silent and i have looked for it all day

Walk around the house with a transistor radio. Even if the phone is turned off you will experience interference.

Have you tryed calling your cell phone from your home phone? In fact, are you sure you lost in your house, not outside somewhere? When was the last time you seen you cell?

GOD! obviously everyone is missing the point that you have the phone on silent. you can't hear it if you call it. all i can suggest is retrace your steps from the last time you saw it. i leave mine in the car all the time. good luck.
