I would much rather hear someone call my son an 'it' than a she, or vice versa with my daughter. I still can't understand how, when my daughter had on all pink and a bow in her hair and her ears pierced, a lady told me HE looked so cute. If she were a he, he'd be one gay little boy. So no, I think they'd rather you say it than the wrong sex.

It depends if I get offended or not - I think if a stranger says this perhaps it is a means not to make a mistake by calling my daughter a boy... however, when my father called her 'It' I was very taken back by it.
P.S. I cant even count the number of times my girl, decked out in her little pink dress, has been called a boy... very annoying. I'm slightly offended they would think I would do that to my boy, but otherwise we just laugh at how silly some people are.

properly stated ... and that is precisely why I dodge the time period each and every time conceivable. after all, basically asking about or commenting on a recognition -- sans "infant" -- must be sufficient sufficient. ;) To take your concept a step further, i have stated that books and web pages who purchase into this and position the word "infant call" authentic of their call are often the least precise through far. itemizing obviously incorrect origins and meanings and any and all conceivable (mis)spellings, probable in an attempt to up their numbers. after all, if given the alternative between "899 Names for infant" and "a million,002 outstanding infant Names," that are you able to likely %. up? LOL Conversely, if a e book or website is incredibly committed to accuracy, you'll not likely discover "infant" everywhere contained in the call. behind the call, as an social gathering, is easily the ultimate website i have stumbled on for studying the etymology of given names (no longer "infant names"). ;) i might want to dodge absolutely everyone or some thing that infantilizes the entire procedure, frankly. As you stated, basically because the names are given at delivery shouldn't negate the actuality that they are going to quicker or later be "man or woman names." :)

Probably not if that's the first time you've seen the baby and don't remember (or can't tell) his or her sex. If the baby's dressed in yellow or green, or in clothes that don't let you know if it's a baby boy or baby girl, then you can be excused... once.
After that, if you forget the baby's sex and say "it", the parent would probably be offended or think something's wrong.

Not really, id just correct them by going yeah yes he -or- she is.
Sometimes people can't tell whether its a boy or a girl, so they say it on the safe side to make sure they dont offend you. lol
i think it be worse if someone came over and rubbed your belly and asked when you're due... when you arent expecting... hehe

Anytime you give a heart felt unsolicited compliment, people are most likely to sense that. After all %90 of communication is unspoken. So, unless they have "issues" most people would just appreciate the positive attention I think.

No, it's not offensive to me. It's better than someone saying, "she's so cute" when it's a boy! Usually if someone were to say that to me, I'd correct them with the proper "her" or "him".
If you are afraid of offending someone, I'd just ask "Awww...what's your name, little one?". Usually the parent will answer with the name. No guesswork!

Hello,
Well, when someone would say, "Oh, it so cute", I would just kindly correct them and say, "You mean baby is so cute", or my girls names.
Sometimes, people or little children, just get excited and do not know what they are saying.
Hope this helps you.. :-)
