the thing is. if living prices are higher, wages are also probably on the higher end of things, so people CAN live there. it's like California. living costs are high, but then again, so are wages! you have to put it all in perspective.

Crummy jobs pay higher in expensive areas.
At McD's in cheap areas you make $8 an hour, there you might make 10.

I know someone who bought a home there about 7 yrs ago. its a 2 bedroom house that he paid near $300,000 sold his Northern home & headed south. Its now worth a small fortune...he forfeited his seniority with the P.O. for a transfer.
