Love and hate are defined very differently by liberals and conservatives.
They kill children because they love them so much...
They believe "free speech" should be free only for them...
They believe churches should join government so they can have gay marriage...
They believe churches should be separate from government so they can live godless lives...
All you get for 2 points!

Isn't it more of an issue of frustration with the current administration? For the average American with kids, a mortgage, utilities, credit cards and maybe a pet or two things have gone from okay to will I have money for milk before the next payday? Republicans seem to have no idea what the average income American is going through...my paycheck is not going up it's going down...taxes are going through the roof, the price of a gallon of gas has exceeded the price of a gallon of milk this summer, the price of heating our homes doubled last winter, my sewer bill is higher than my water bill, in PA we pay an occupational tax once a year that went from $10 to $52 (they take this out of your first pay of the year regardless of how much you make) everyone dollars and dimes us to death with fundraisers for the schools and any activity that your child wants to participate in. Because of the fuel cost increase the price of anything you need to buy has risen....and even though the minum wage may go up because I make a bit more I don't see any increase....my company can't afford it and everytime the minum wage goes up they cut empolyees and I have to do two peoples jobs now because instead of having three people making $5 whatever they have one or two. So raise the rate loose a job...
Meanwhile the Republicans are spending Billions of dollars on a war we can't win and our young men are dying! We are seeing absolutly no direct effect on our lives in a positive way being in the war...it is hurting our country and we are throwing away money better spent at home dealing with our own issues and problems. Why is it that the Republicans seem to think we are the worlds police force? Why should we care so much about what is going on over there? Becasue of Oil? If we would just let the UN actually do their job and just be a customer of the world and keep our fat noses out of everyone elses business we wouldn't have half the problems with terrorists that we have now. We didn't want King George ruling over us in the 1700's why the hell do we think that the world wants us and our ideas now? When did we have all the answers? I was always told growing up to make sure my own front pourch was clean before I told someone else their's was dirty. So why don't we close our boraders up more effectiantly, and take care of our schools and our elderly and our special needs folks more and relieve the middle class americans from the burdon they are suffering under? Better yet...I'd love to see some rich republican come live my life for a couple of months...then tell me why I feel the way I do....

I really wish it was that simple. I'm American, and believe that America was founded on some pretty awesome principles, and defined by some very noble ideals.
What I see happening, and the reason I am so critical of the direction America is heading, is because we are losing those principles and ideals along the way.
We have a country founded by people who came here seeking the freedom to freely hold their religious beliefs. And, it guarantees that right to all. But, I hear their descendants spewing hatred for other people in the world based on their religion. That hatred has helped to fuel support for a war which has killed 650,000 Muslims. How can I, or anyone, cheer for 650,000 deaths?
Our country defines separation of church and state as part of our basic rights. But, at the highest levels of government, our elected officials publicly state that their religious views inform their policy-making decisions, including the one that they made to go to war against a Muslim country. At worst, that's persecution. At best, it's a breach of one of the basic tenets of our democracy. How can I cheer them on?
I don't have a problem with going after Osama bin Laden. I wish we really had done so. I live in Seattle, and I've visited the site of the World Trade Centers every year since they were destroyed. I just came back from NYC last week, and even now that it just looks like a big construction site, it's heartbreaking. The memorials, small and large, bring it all alive again. I wish we had gone after him with everything we had. But, we went somewhere else, for all the wrong reasons. We put our best young people in jeopardy. Over 3000 of them are dead, and thousands more have been injured or maimed. People all over the world think we're collectively insane for taking the action we did. A lot of those who mourned with us on 9/11 now hate us for what we've done. Osama is still alive and well. Our president says he's not too worried about that. How can I or anyone else think that is acceptable? How the hell did we get this whole thing so wrong? How can I be glad that we did?
I can, and do, root for my country. I want to see us get past this point in our brief existence, learn from the experience, and move on. I want to see us take the lead again in the cause of human rights and freedom, not by killing, but leading by example. I want to see us fulfill the dreams of our founders. And, I have such faith in America and Americans that I think we will do it. I cheer for that.

It is not just liberals, I must say. Moderates and Conservatives alike have had problems with the Bush Administration. That's not to say everyone ISN'T backing the US. Simply stated, I am an American, and I believe in the principles of the US. However, not everyone in the US agrees on the same thing.
This is the biggest thing you must realize. There are 268 million people in the US, all with different opinions... Any two people rarely agree on even any one thing.
First of all, Chavez is ignorant.
Osama Bin Laden is a security threat.
-- Iraq was not a security threat.
--Saddam Hussein was not a security threat.
The only real security threat besides going to war is the fact that we are creating terrorism ourselves... This is why I do not and never will have backed President Bush.
However, since he IS the President, and since the administrations did take control, I have to back my country, and I will never NOT back my country, because that is Patriotism.
Short answer - It's not just Liberals, I promise you.

If your going to ask a question for peoples opinions on the Government, that's what you are going to get, peoples opinions on the Government. if you don't want to except the answers don't ask the questions. Just because a liberal might be against something in the USA is not saying they are pro terrorism. Many things or not a white/black issue. to me I hate when Conservative say liberals are pro terrorism because of the lack of voting for the latest bill that infringes on rights and changes the constitution. It not being proterrorst its Pro American and Pro constitution, you know that thing that is the corner stone of this country. And what this country has prided itself on for the last 200 years. That people these days are so will to throw away. that's the issue. you can't take a snippet as the entire story when it probably only 2% of the issue.

Your question should be changed to read "Why do SOME Liberals, blah, blah, blah.....?"
Because:
(1) Not all of us hate the US government, and
(2) I'm a Liberal and I DO NOT hate the US government.
However,
(1) I hate the way George Bush runs this country!
(2) I hate the fact that because I do not support our president/his administration, I am quickly labeled as being an unpatriotic liberal!
(3) I hate that American servicemen and women are being used to fight a war that I'm not altogether convinced isn't a personal vendetta by the Bush-family against certain Arabs in the middle East!
(4) I hate that companies (like Haliburton) are in business in Iraq...operating off of the blood of our soldiers!
(5) I hate that because I routinely question the role of the US in Iraq, I'm labeled as a cheerleader for Osama and a terrorist supporter!
(6) I hate that because I don't feel Chavez's remarks were t-totally off-colour and/or off-target, I'm labeled as a Venezuelan-guerilla sympathizer!
(7) I hate that Bush (an his supporters) wants to pee on my head and tell me it's raining!

You've got it all wrong. Liberals aren't against government they love it. They are for an All Mighty unlimited government. They just think they should be running it.
They root for Osama because he is against the current regime in the US and they operate on the theory that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Never mind the Islamo fascist would line the liberals up and kill them first.
As for Chavez they have the same philosophy as Chavez, Castro, Marx, Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim, and Mao. They'd give up all we have to spread the misery of communism throughout the land. So their support of Chavez really has nothing to do with Bush.

I do not agree. While I am a registered Independent, I obviously lean left and therefor am labeled a Liberal (which is fine by me), so I shall attempt to answer this. I believe that our form of government in the United States is a fabulous one. While "majority rules" may not work for all, it is a just and fair way to rule a country as large as ours. Everybody has a voice and everybody has a chance to be the majority. So, I love my country and my form of government. What I do not like right now is how the government is being manipulated and infiltrated by money/power hungry individuals who would destroy any attempt at peace and prosperity for their own short term political and/or monetary gain. I have never been a cheerleader for UBL nor Hugo Chavez and find your gross generalization to be a petty attack at those who disagree with you rather than a detail to your "question."

I just do not get it - since when the world "liberal" became offensive? Did we forget "give me liberty or death"? Did we forget that the type of government in this country is a republic - meaning a representative democracy? Meaning the demos HAS a voice? A voice to question? A voice to disagree?

Well its just we have different ideas of what terrorism is and how it came about.
We dont hate our government we just want to change it for the better. We always root for the USA, you just seem to think that disagreeing with the current policy means we are traitors to our country for some reason.
Some people see the world in black and white and some people also see the shades of gray that affect the black and white.
