how do i get my husband to finish tiling my kitchen floor instead of doing everyone elses?

I had the exact same problem. When my husband was not home I started doing it myself (just a little bit). When he came home he said "you have no idea what you are doing, let me show you how its supposed to be done." and with that he continued on until the job was completed "the right way".

most tilers would say the best method is to get them up and retile. for a valid reason, if the old tiles are not well laid or poorly adhered the stresses of new tiles on top can cause the old ones to come free of the base. quite a rare occurence, but happens. so if its a new customer we point that out to them and the choice is theirs to lift or tile over. use a single part flexible adhesive from a decent store(not b and q) . if your new tiles are of a similar size to the old ones try to start tiling by laying them overlapping the old ones. i:e the centre of your new tile lays on top of the grout line between 2 of the old ones. this helps to spread the tensions.

Is it just that he is afraid of the cutting in. He has probably laid all tje whole tiles and is now putting off the hard bit

Why not offer to help? Be waiting for him in work clothes one day when he comes home and make it something you both do together.
And I mean together, don't get him started then sod off to paint your nails like my girlfriend does - sometimes we just want to hang out with the women in our lives.
Make it fun.
