"An Inconvenient Truth" is a documentary film (a companion of documentary book of the same name) on former US Vice President Al Gore's campaign to make the issue of global warming a recognized problem worldwide. This film is presented by Al Gore (Albert Arnold "Al" Gore, Jr.) himself with Davis Guggenheim as the director. In the movie, some of Gore's more recent speeches are shown, as well as him talking and performing research.
Director Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global warming with Mr. Gore's personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change. Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way. An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of despair but rather a rallying cry to protect the one earth we all share. "It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely," said Gore.
It premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival where the movie received a three-time standing ovation. It was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival and was the opening night film at the 27th Durban International Film Festival on June 14, 2006. An Inconvenient Truth was the most popular Documentary at the 2006 Brisbane International Film Festival.
The film opened in New York and Los Angeles on May 24, 2006. It is the third-highest-grossing documentary in the United States to date. Proceeds from the film had been pledged to further educational campaigns about climate change. It is due to be released on DVD by Paramount Home Entertainment on November 21, 2006.♥

Inconvenient Truth. About Global warming. If it was filmed in the 70's it would have been about global cooling.
By the way, THE highest grossing documentary of all time is EVEREST at $128 Million.
Calling 9/11 the highest grossing documentary is just
another example of liberals ignoring the truth to satisfy their needs.

From director Davis Guggenheim comes the Sundance Film Festival hit, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, which offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change. In this eye-opening and poignant portrait of Gore and his "traveling global warming show," Gore also proves himself to be one of the most misunderstood characters in modern American public life. Here he is seen as never before in the media - funny, engaging, open and downright on fire about getting the surprisingly stirring truth about what he calls our "planetary emergency" out to ordinary citizens before it's too late.
The film opened in New York City and Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. On Memorial Day weekend, it grossed an average of $91,447 per theater, the highest of any movie that weekend and a record for a documentary,. The film has grossed over $23 million as of September 6, 2006, making it the third-highest-grossing documentary in the U.S. to date (after Fahrenheit 9/11 and March of the Penguins)
It will be released on DVD November 21st.
