Remember that "percent" means "of one hundred"

So, 25% is the same as 25/100. If you were divide a number (like 25) by 100, all you do is move the decimal two places to the left.

So, 25 will become 0.25.

Now, just multiply 400 x .25 = 100.

Let's see some more.

37% of 45. Just move that decimal. 45 x .37 = 16.65

This even works for small numbers!

3% of 200.

Move the decimal...3% becomes .03

So .03 x 200 = 6.

Hope that helped.

convert the percent into a fraction and multiply that fraction by the number
ex. 25% = 1/4
so, 1/4 * 400 = 100

or, you could just change the percentage into a decimal by moving it to the left two places and multiply it by your number
ex. 25% = .25
and, .25 * 200 = 100
