The name of the "black sucker fish" is most likely a common plecostomus or pleco for short and they eat algae, left over fish food, algae pellets, or for a treat you can feed them pieces of cucumber. I hope that answered your question below are some pics of plecos and what they eat

Well, plecostomus love algae wafers, and all fish (including succer fish like a zucchine tied with a rock to the bottom of the tank. Even though there are these things, if you have a big enough tank the sucker fish will eat the algae on the walls, and that should be enough.

I have a sucker fish and I feed it at night everyday with Hikari Tropical Algae Wafers. I got it at Walmart in the pet section, it is pretty cheap. It has worked well for me so far, the sucker fish is about 4 inches long now (not including the tail).

There are tons of different kinds. You shouldn't just buy fish on a whim, you need to research them before you buy them. Did you know that the regular kind of sucker fish, called a Pleco (short for plecostomus.. I might've spelled that wrong), usually grows to over a foot long? Just something to think about.
As to your question.. Most sucker fish will gladly eat zuchini or cucumber if there's no algae left in the tank. Just buy one of the aformentioned vegetables, cut off a small 1/2 inch or smaller slive, weight it down with something, and toss it into the tank. Most likely your other fish will nibble on it as well, and that's ok. It's healthy for them.

You can also get a zuchinni ( green squash ) and wash it really well and put the whole thing in the microwave for about 30 seconds or so. Cut a disc off it it about a half inch thick and let it cool. Wrap the rest and put it in the fridge. Drop the disc in once it is cool and leave it for a couple of days. After that ,remove it so it doesnt spoil. The wafers are much easier to feed.

You can feed them algae wafers, but chances are you have enough algae naturally growing in your tank to support a couple of sucker fishes.

You need to buy algae pellets because even if they eat the food at the bottom sometimes its not enough and they do need to have a supplement or they will most likely die.

You failed to mention what kind of "sucker" fish it is. That can make a huge difference in what to feed it.
