So this past week my uncle and grandmother died. I went in to work so that I could switch my shifts with someone so that I could make it to both their wakes and funerals. I tell my boss (store manager) about it and she starts yelling at me because I had already asked off for this weekend because it was my birthday (and there was no f-ing way I was going to be stuck there on my birthday). THEN she says that she is not going to pick up any of my hours because her husband's cousin died. Also...she says some rude comment about having to work six days a week because everyone has such different schedules and that it was bull$hit that she had to work six days a week.

SSSOOOOO...would you be pi$$ed off at your boss for acting this way??? Cause I'm still so angry about it that I'm considering quitting this job and looking for another. What do you think??

P.S. This job is at a movie rental place - it is one of my two jobs that I have seeing as I'm still in college.

yeah i would be pi$$ed too, but i wouldnt quit not unless she keeps it up, i wouldnt see why she would get so mad though i mean its a movie rental place, it shouldnt be super busy any ways. i wouldnt worry about it much, ild just bide my time and see what she does, then go from there, good luck with it and im sorry to hear about your uncle and grandmother

I bet the lady is PMS-ing, and it was a one time thing. However, if this continues to go on where she yells at you for random things, like being 20 seconds late or asking off because your family died, I would quit. But make sure that she was not just having a bad day herself. Allot of bosses can be mean on spurts.

Dump the job. The manager is clearly just a stupid spoiled child who is unhappy being there. That's a terrible boss to have. When she's unhappy, she will make sure everyone else hurts a little.

Walk, I say.

You do have a reason to be upset. I sounds like your boss has emotional issues and is taking them out on you. See if your company has bereavement policies. Most do. If they do, I would send a memo to her and officially request the time off and see if she still gives you a hard time. Sometimes documenting things will straighten out crazy bosses. Good luck!
