The purpose of our life need not be searched in the ultimate objective of God or Nature in creating human life - simply because that would be the purpose of Nature or God which either of them is perfectly capable of achieving without any help from us.
Our purpose has to be determined by what we want from our life. Here lies the catch - we want too many things from life - almost innumerable. So, when we seek for a purpose, it ought to be that which we want the most and which we would always need.
To live is first such want - but this is common to all beings and does not take specific account of our being human.
I therefore believe that what we want most and all the time from our life, is to live with the best peace of mind.
Our purpose is therefore lasting happiness.
Each person has to find his own answer as to what he ought to be doing to attain such a state of mind on a stable basis - surprisingly, however, there are quite a few common threads in the requisites of us all despite all our differences. Peace of mind can come only through a sustaining balance of forces affecting our mind. Forces affecting our mind are sensory experiences, thoughts, emotions and values. These forces are magnified or moderated not so much by the external factors, but rather by our own internal state of ego. In order to fulfil our purpose in life, we need to understand how our own ego hurts and harms us and get it reined in suitably.
In other words, we need to think ourselves to be SMALL to get any lasting Happiness in life.

This is a multi-angular question. The answer depends upon the mental and intellectual maturity of the person that answers. The acceptance of the answer also needs similar status of the asker. We can have answers of philosophical, scientific, utilitarian, pessimistic, humourous nature. The most common and easily understable is LIVE AND LET OTHERS LIVE HAPPILY AND PEACEFULLY. But we are finding it very difficult in following this principle of human life and we are degrading this heavenly earth and making it as a real hell.

It is not a mater of joke or riducle. The purpose of human life is two-fold.
First to undergo the consequences of our actions good or bad, performed in our previous life.
The socond and the main purpose is to live according to the laws of living and conduct, given to us by the creator, so as to attain perfect BLISS which neans to get out of the cycle of death and rebirths.

It is my belief the purpose of life is to make this world a better place for your having been here.
That bothered me for quite a while as how am I going to change the world.
But then I realized that if each of us would change our small part of this world into something better then the entire world would change through our collective efforts.

Your purpose is what you make it, there are many noble paths that can be followed. I do not believe that any one way of life is right, although some are destructive and should be avoided...

Biblical man was created to tend the garden, the earth. So, I guess we are caretakers in a sense, most of the rest is up to us.

to take care of the world i guess. that's why we have all these powers to create things, we can evolve so that means we are even more powerful than nature it self. meaning we are the authority in this universe and all living things are our job to comfort and try our best to ensure their survival. that's how i see it. they say with great powers comes great responsibility.
