Well as a Welsh woman and a Cardiffian - the accents drove me mad too!
I can tell you that the majority of Cardiffians do NOT have such strong Welsh accents! That lot sounded like they were from the Valleys or from North Wales. I felt they were really overplaying the "Welshness" of it all to maybe appeal to the non Welsh audience and it was tiresome.
Cardiff is a very cosmopolitan city. I laughed so much to see that fat white Welsh valleys boy working in the pizza parlour. If it was really Cardiff he'd have been a Somali.
I enjoyed the story, the acting etc. I just hated the accents because they were not Cardiff at all. They all sounded like rejects from Pobol y Cwm.

That was the best (indeed the only) show I have watched in weeks. I thought the quality of acting was great. Although not a huge fan of the Welsh accent I am sure I can grow to love it over time.
To be honest I don't watch TV at all these days (I have maybe seen 50 hours of TV total over 2006 of which 20 would have been news) and I have spent the last two weeks looking forward to Torchwood and I was really hoping I would be disappointed so I could continue to say that everything on TV is crap but I could not fault it.
If you don't like a show then don't watch it, and feel proud that you are a T H I E F who cheats the system at everyone else's expense.
Now go out and beat up an old lady for her purse buy a bag of chips with her pension money and you will feel a lot better.

Don't know if I'd necessarily call it a load of crap, but did it give us anything to keep us watching? Hell no.
Characterisation was limp, and they seemed to play the "we're adult entertainment" card to death. It sucked that after all the fuss, the "second-in-command", whose name I couldn't be bothered to remember, didn't make it past episode 1 (sorry, spoiler-haters). Episode 2 had all the charm of sci-fi soft-porn, and I stopped watching it, just listening, very early on in that episode. Will I continue to watch it? Well, probably, because I'm a loyal anorak. will I enjoy it? On this evidence, it doesn't seem likely...

I haven't seen it yet-it's on again on Wednesday. Not bothered about crap Welsh accents, only watching it for the filthy rude fit being that is John Barrowman (yes, I know he's gay, don't care) as I've heard it's very naughty- that's what I like

great idea, but as with doctor who the acting, script and directing has and always will be awful. shame. they are trying to make this equal to an american production, and failing (i am uk b.t.w).
