The chances of a condom breaking during sex are less than 5% as long as you are using the condom correctly. There must be room left in the tip, which can be done easily by pinching the tip with you thumb and index fingure as you are putting it on. Also lubricant can help prevent breakage. Just make sure the lubricant is water base otherwise it will make the condom more likely to break.

If it breaks, the guy will know. The older the condom, the more chance of a break.
