Ok first off, do not write on the side that the data is on, if u do it will ruin the CD, because the computer will not be able to read the data under the writing. Yes u can use Mailing Labels, but only on the side u can write on. There is another way, two infact. One u can use CD labels which fit right on top of the cd and u can style them however u want. Two u can use printable CDs, which cost about $10 for a 10pack, but if ur printer is usable with it u can print directly on the CD. Little insight, HP is going to be offering CD tattoos, much like the removable tattoos that kids get these will apply with water and stick on better thant he CD labels.

If you have the correct software, it is possible to burn you labels onto CD. And of course as all the others have said before me, get yourself some CD marker pens, they are not expensive

I Don't know about mailing labels, I use a fine-tip majic marker, put on the reverse of the real shiny side, usually has name of cd maker on it.

Yes you only want to use cd pens. you can buy them anywhere. if you use any other kind of marker the ink will sink through and you will lose you data..

you can use markers on CD's and it's fine. just use it on the side that faces up, i guess that's how i can describe it. i burned tons of music cd's and dvd's and it's fine. and you can use mailing labels as well, and it doesn't ruint he cd. i also my covers for my dvd's, basically other than that just take care of them without any stratches, dust, fingerprints, and keep it away from sun exposure.
