Since it is completely legal to smoke weed at coffeehouses in Amsterdam, if I smoke there and then my employer makes me take a drug test back in the states and it comes back positive, is that grounds for termination (since the marijuana was legal)?

Did you take any kind of perscription? Aspirin? Anything at all? Ask for a second test, give it a few days for your body to cycle through and don't worry. If you don't smoke weed then you really have no reason to worry. Someone else smoking it wouldn't make you turn a positive test, it comes from something you injest or inhale (like the smoke if they were smoking it right beside you). Relax.

I am NOT a lawyer, but I would guess that an employer could still fire you.
The reason your employer uses drug tests is not to make sure you are obeying the law. Your employer doesn't want you to use drugs because they believe it will affect your performance on the job. Your employer probably thinks smoking weed will make you a bad worker, so even if you do it legally, he won't want you working at his company.

Yes you Can it don't matter were you smoked it in the world. and it's illegal in the U.S.but if you do decide to smoke it there. Take a good hit for me.I have alway's wanted to go there just for that reason.There Electric pipes look cool. Good luck and make the right choice. But if ya all ready do it here what would be the problem. Plus if it's your first time it might not even show up 2 weeks later.

No, you won't be terminated. Most people beleive that a dirty drug tests constitutes grounds for dismissal however, it is not the case. Two dirty tests constitutes termination the first requires the employer to allow you to go to treatment to deal with your "illness" due to the fact that drug addiction is now considered and illness.

If employer policy says positive drug test means firing then
you will get fired...

Yes, if they are testing you, they dont want you smoke it, anywhere.
Just drink lots of detox tea, do a cleanse.

Yeah, you can lose your job. Employer doesn't care where you smoked the dope, only that you did.
