well sir. You are actually referring to the Loxodonta africana. African and Asian elephants are the lone survivors of a once prolific family of animals. They are most closely related today to the rodent hyrax. African elephants are currently the largest land mammal on earth. They have two tusks and large ears that are shaped like the continent of Africa. The males can be as tall as 13 feet and weigh as much as nine tons. The females are smaller and weigh up to six tons. Maggie weighs close to 10,000 pounds. Elephants have pads of keratin on the bottom of their feet which absorb shock and sound. These pads help to cushion the bones of their feet, which are actually arranged in a tip-toe position in the foot (much like deer). These pads are trimmed in captivity to reduce infection due to cracks or objects being stuck in the pad.

Also, some people believe that in the book of Job in chapter 43 he is referring to an elephant's tail, when in actaulality Job is describing a dinosaurs tree-like tail that measures up to the size of a large redwood tree.

So no, you may not have one.

Thanks

Whilst it is obviously illegal to own an elephant, there are a few other things to consider if you are thinking about getting / stealing one anyway..

1. The cost of moving it from point of where bought / stolen.
2. The cost of keeping it, they eat 100's of Kgs of veg a day + peanuts
3. The piles of sh*t you would have to clear.
4. You try finding a kennel big enough.

Silly question... silly answer.

unless you live in a place suited to looking after an elephant you really shouldn't consider it...buy a cuddly toy instead...
