It all depends on the origin of the show. The best cop show from Australia - from what I have seen - is without a doubt Blue Heelers, which ran from January 1994 to June 2006. Of the shows from the UK, my vote goes to 'The Bill' from its inception until approximately 2000 (i think it was, in the UK) when the Boulton murder storyline ended; after that the show got a little far-fetched for my liking. And of the US shows, Law & Order Criminal Intent and SVU are my picks.

The Best ever has to be Hill Street Blues. If youre not old enough to remember it then you need to download some episodes.
Currently I would say It's Life on Mars - sheer genius.
I love Columbo too though. He is a god to me. It's just the way he always lets them under estimate him.

It has to be....Columbo! Yep, an oldie but a goody! Law and Order was good in the early years, now it's been running too long. Spenser: For Hire...cheesy but fun PI series. Criminal Instincts....professor turned investigator. Great.

I like Law and Order: Special Victims and the original but I hate the Criminal Intent one.
